The iffy legality would be using info you are privvy to as a result of commercial negotiations to purchase into the company you are negotiating with, if you were expecting the agreement to bounce the price when news of it came out...

I don't know if it would be / wouldn't be strictly illegal, but would raise concerns, for sure.

But it's total conjecture based on a big buy, and talk of possible current onboardings of big producers.
