I know a lot of you are waiting on the DFS to arrive but take a minute to think what management faced in the way of changes to the DFS once they had doubled the resource.
I have been reading a bit and also looking at other projects and it appears that most projects are slated between 20 and 30 years, some brine projects in South America go to 40+ years, but it is rare to see one go past 30 years. Part of this is because of environment, basically any mining operation is responsible for putting the land back to it original state (reclamation) when the mine is complete... having a mine life of 40 or 50 years means you need to restore the land to what it was 50 years ago which might be difficult to do, also communities would probably not be on board with those time lengths, so in order to mine out a resource in a time table that works you have to produce more per year and I think that is where this is at right now.
So from a project and DFS standpoint you now have to worry about how you will produce more. Here are a few of the challenges that they might be struggling with.
1. Larger concentrator - maybe up to 400,000+ tpa needed.
2. More water usage and larger pond sizes.
3. Larger area to store tailings
4. More Trucks and equipment
5. More People to manage operations.
So you would want to make sure you have paid attention to all of these issues and reviewed the changes with enough people to be sure you have not missed anything. The DFS will probably blow the NPV and SP up but I would want them to find every cent they can before issuing it to us and the financial organizations so that we get optimal effect, otherwise it is wasted. They say "You don't get a 2nd chance to make a first impression" so whatever time it takes to get it right is fine by me.
