it was a geothermal plant..
The brine resource did not sustain flow rates .It also provided district heating,
With insufficient heat source the plant was shut down
All German geothermal projects require special pricing of around $.25 euro for electrical output to become economical…
elsewhere in the world, geothermal can be price competitive ( shallower wells…. In Germany typical well costs are $us 25 Million each!)
