If you are not long, it can be very profitable to trade AVZ during the last 3 months due to the volatility.

However, for long term holders, the capital gain tax discount benefit probably makes it not worth while to trade. As I am long on AVZ, I haven't trade it, but do trade LTR and has been able to freehold a small parcel like you do with AVZ. Actually, during the last 3 months, the 2 stocks give very similar benefit for traders if one looks at the average daily change % and their high Standard Deviations per the table below.
