I was over half a year in Qatar , no cutting off of hands or anything like that . A couple of beatings as punishment which I had no problems with .
As I did say , depending on how it's practiced - not the religion per se .
Consider the attrocities committed by the crusaders in the name of Christianity or later the burnings at the stake etc Yet if practiced properly as per the bible Christianity is a wonderful religion .
Human nature the real culprit .
Live and let live and don't perpetuate hatred based on difference - religion or any other difference .
