i have done exactly what you have been saying
i have a 150000 investment loan -using my home's equity. i have mostly high yielding fully franked blue chips and small caps such as:
ASL, CAB, MAH, TSE, STO etc...
i only pay off the interest -and therefore have excellent tax implications
the dividends/ franking credits easily cover the loan + my tax return was huge this year - so i'm certainly happy with the decision i have made.
