Thanks for explaining. Government distributed income support in Australia certainly is an extremely complex issue, both in terms of ethics and practicalities, and people’s various attitudes, beliefs and values.
Going back to your previous post, do you actually think the majority of Australians support our current welfare system just because successive elected federal governments haven’t made fundamental changes to the system in recent times?
Personally I believe the country is well overdue for a rethink. For instance it seems to me that many of us think the current level of Jobseeker Payment is massively inadequate and unfair, especially given the likewise huge increases in job precariousness and accommodation expenses.
