Plumbing is what we need , all those low lying areas that council approved for housing has seen floods everytime it rains more than three days.
instead of claiming " its just one in a hundred year event"
council should engage enginneers to design the flood out of those areas.
flood waters contain dewage, toxic chemicals, petrol, diesel and flooded houses would have the buildings impregnated with the toxic soup and after drying out the residual poisons remain.
just lay a pipe with water sensors that activate pumps to pump the flood to the sea.
whats so hard ?
