zzedzz, one thing to keep the mind open to when reading any of Peter Andrew's writings, is that his work done on restoring his property in NSW was only possible because he was basically running horses. That means that there was not truck loads of nutrients leaving the property in the form of grain, meat, fibre or fodder.
I had the opportunity to ask Peter some difficult questions a couple of years ago. He had mentioned that his son now runs the farm, running cattle, and is using conventional methods such as applying artificial fertilisers etc.
I asked him how that sat with him, his response was basically that if you want to make a living off the land, and not go broke as he had done, then these are some of the things you have to do.
Sustainable agriculture is as much about making a profit each year as it is about caring for the land.
