Perhaps you forgot to mention that COMMSEC provides for "early settlement", i.e. you can force ssettlement and balance yiour account by asking for early settlement and paying the fee (under $100). With this option, you can settle on any T+ day up to t+3 provided you sell to make up the funds needed and ask for the early settlement before the market closes.
