There is plenty of scope for improvement by reversing much of the land clearing, especially in the marginal areas, also by planting other species that discourage fires and improve soil structure.
It does seem somewhat hopeless in the face of accelerating drought and temperature increases, especially when so many are determined to make excuses for their inability to accept what is happening.
