Our first place along with my parents, used to back onto this drain.
So,..back in the old days when we got the serious rains, they would release the Sepentine dam and down the Sepentine river it would come and then into the folly (Peel) drain and then over our properties (part of).
One year, some locals south of us were ripping around their paddock in speed boats lol. (no bull).
