yes, it is very ironic, agree completely with you. Cerro Matoso is one of the few successful ones.
I was aware it is a laterite mine when I wrote my post.
What I'm not sure of is whether it was BHP/S32 built from scratch or purchased at a discount from the original developer (the latter is the usual way to get a economically viable laterite mine).
