I think this shows good sense that if you can be self reliant you cant be denied parts.
India does have a bit of a track record of late and 2nd rate aerospace projects though. See Marut, Kiran and Tejas although Tejas seems to be having a 2nd wind it will be a 4th generation fighter up against 6th gen when it is in service.
