Your statement shows political naivety.
Labor has a large (militant) left wing component whose MPs and Senators are opposed to coal mining.
It's easy for Mr Alabanese to say that he 'loves coal', but the rider is 'subject to enviornmental approvals' and so on. Look at how the Queensland government has declined to progress NHC's New Acland State 3 despite a favourable Land and Environment Court decision.
If reelected, hard as that may be, the Federal Liberal/Nationals will do their best to expand existing mines or allow new ones. They've a good track record with acting in Oz's interests. Labor/Greens do not.
