"Agree, not sure what's the point since we are all going to vote NO.....surely" - It's a way of running up a flag that isn't white, of keeping apathy at bay, of showing that there is a point in voting NO because these people have also said they will also vote NO. With online proxy voting it's so much easier these days to rally numbers for a vote.

The converse is also true; it shows the YES voters what they need to do to swing the vote. But I suspect that at 11.5c we're pretty safe.
