Something similar happened to my landline.
It stopped working, so I checked the pit and it was full of water.
I rang Telstra and asked them [nicely] to fix it.
They said if it wasn't their fault, I would have to pay [about] $150.
A technician came out and checked it out and tested the phone lines and there was a fault in one of the phones in the house.
I was having a chat with him and he said he would book the job in as water in a connector.
He showed me one of their phone line connectors where you slide the wire in and crimp it with pliers and it seals the whole lot with silicone.
Chalk up a win for me ... ✔
