One case I'm aware of is a lovely fellow on NDIS...grossly disabled
Lives in a home paid for by the NDIS
Receives the DSP of course
Has 24 hr care with 2 trained people in his home
And he's just 24 years old
Calculate the cost of one person's claim on the NDIS and then multiply that by 1,000s...10s of 1000s
And for the most part, the costs are so high because we must, of course, respect his right to some sort of self-determination and independence and placing him in an infinitely more cost-effective facility would be ...well, ...unacceptable to that vision of how he should get to live his life.
