US stocks had climbed earlier in the session, led by Tesla after the electric carmaker reported a record $US3.3bn profits. Airline shares also rallied after United Airlines forecast surging travel demand as the pandemic recedes.
An earlier version had mentioned both corporate and domestic travel increasing.
