it`s possible that you got oil below a gas cap. But MEL should have told us that when they were drilling (you get oil in the drilling fluid and you got oil on the cuttings = direct and 100% clear proof of an oil reservoir when you see it)

I would like to know if MEL has seen longer hydrocarbon molekular chains the deeper they drilled. If yes we will see perharps the gas condensate and the oil too ...

so I would say, if MEL has seen it and didn`t tell us = not good communication

if it`s just a talk after the sekond beer = pure speculation

except your friend understands geology or petroleum engineering; then the speculation could be a point worth looking into it and to do some investigations
