I don't think it is realistic that they could all merge, agreeing valuations between all would be very difficult. Personally i think RNU, ITM and maybe CMX to a lessor degree are the best placed given where their projects are located and where they are with their resources. They have just about all the key infrastructure right there - not to say the other can't be successful.

Personally i think the state/federal govts should be establishing a centralised battery materials processing hub, where they set up all of the infrastructure (power, water and ports) and potentially contribute to the project costs or at least provide financing. This would include spherical graphite, potentially graphene, high purity alumina, REE's, potentially manganese etc. Potentially enable co-investment in processing. SA needs to start taking more advantage of our sustainability credentials and renewable energy potential through value added activities.

There should be massive economies of scale in bringing them together and would provide a big incentive for downstream players to set up nearby. Battery anode manufacturers, even total battery solutions, wind farm construction using the steel works, maybe electric buses, electric/hydrogen buses, defence applications etc etc. Potential to create a lot of high value jobs and a massive impetus for the state.
