There was an epic round of consolidation of gas resources in Qld in 2008 which saw Qld Gas Co take over Sunshine and Roma, before BG's offer for QGC itself at an 80% premium. It was quickly accepted by the Board who were probably exhausted by all the takeovers.
The battle for lithium resources is looking similar to that.
