Illegal Dumping, page-23

Well giddy up!

It took a year, but I'm pleased to say that our local council in northern NSW has now followed the lead of Bathurst regional council and teamed up with Spectur as part of its strategy to combat illegal dumping (see the photo below of a just installed STA6 camera at a popular illegal dumping site in our shire).

My understanding is that our council has been liaising with a bunch of other NSW councils (including Bathurst regional council) on strategies to combat illegal dumping and Spectur seems to be a popular choice for illegal dumping surveillance among several councils involved in those discussions.

Unlike Bathurst regional council which purchased a number of STA6 cameras, it would seem that our council is only dipping its toe in the water at this stage and choosing to deploy one or two STA6 cameras on periodic rotation around a selection of popular illegal dump sites throughout the shire. Whether that's a viable strategy remains to be seen, but it's encouraging that use of Spectur kit for illegal dumping surveillance now seems to be getting a small measure of traction beyond just Western Australia.
