Yeah - pretty much an uninvestable jurisdiction now, for any resource, as CZL management and investors would already be aware of.

A laughable attempt at nationalization declaring Li a strategic mineral, this will ensure that any Li in the ground in Mexico will stay there, as they are only the 10th largest reserve of Li globally and it's all in dubious clays anyway. Looks like Bacanora Lithium (LON: BCN), which is being acquired by China’s Ganfeng Lithium, will just sneak under the new regulations on a technicality but once they burn the Chinese investors that will be the end of the Mexican Li mining industry as they were the foreign investors of last resort. As for the Mexican Government, they are not famous for being good at anything remotely like delivering services or being competent, so I don't think they are all of a sudden going to become experts at Li mining. If you want someone to stand around and ignore problems and take bribes then the Mexican Government is just the ticket...

The Australian and Canadian Li producers will be sending Christmas cards to the Mexican President, as its just guaranteed their Australian and Canadian operations to be more profitable and secure with the stroke of a pen. It's like the Mexican Government thinks that there is no Lithium in the world, outside the borders of Mexico.
