I think that is exactly what happened but the option was non binding on both parties.
My take is IVZ told CEA they would have to up their bid and gave them another month. What I don't understand is is CEA's bid now binding...and by binding I mean on CEA. IVZ are not compelled to accept any offer but CEA have to make a binding offer.
Its a little murky but true to his statements in the past IVZ is running an auction process and we now know for certain there are at least 3 interested parties and anyone who has ever been to an auction knows you only need 2 but the more the higher the likely price.
Announcing 3 bidders also puts those in the que under some pressure to make it their best bid.
I am now pretty comfortable we will get a pretty good deal compared to the CEA initial offer.
Will it be good enough to satisfy the market??
I think a lot of that depends on how biblical the seismic upgrade will be and what the make up of the A-1 target is.....more liquid prone..... hopefully lots more liquid prone.
