This is the dream scenario for the short position.... I will be interested in the stats for today and next Monday when they become available because this is when the shorts should start covering... IMO. So far today the volume is only slightly elevated, still not easy for them to get out.
The reason I think the shorts should now be covering is... this is the inverse situation of profit taking at the highs.... just as the buyers start to thin out near the top so the sellers thin out near the bottom. Volumes are consistently holding around 500,000 shares traded each day with the short selling making up at least 25% of that... they are not creating a high volume capitulation sell off.
ASM is #40 in the top 100 shorted stocks. Around 6.4M shares short sold.
