@Crom Valen - I do know all this, just thought it was too much for this continuing story of bloodshed. One minor factor, which is often overlooked - Hitler may have had his own demons to banish (a hateful father, and the possibility he was part-Jewish, and whilst we are at it, his persecution of disabled people probably stems from the fact that all through his childhood a disabled aunt shared the same small living quarters with his family)
- but it must have been very convenient to persecute Jews, as they were - at least in Western Europe - very well off, were involved in business, in banking, their homes contained treasures - and to have a good reason in order to deprive a whole section of the community of its wealth is akin to a revolution, i.e. things get turned on its head and there is a re-distribution of treasure. Hence he could finance his road-building, his army, his war etc. - bribe the entire middle-class . . . . Jewish jobs, shops, factories were turned over to them. I nearly married a man, who had been a friend of my husband, until I asked him one day, where those swords came from which hung over his mantle piece - and he casually answered; 'well my parents queued at one of those 'emptied flats' - just like everyone else - that put me off him for life - he still doesn't know the reason why I rejected him. I did find him a lady, who is equally empty-headed-hearted and they are happy - should have charged a fee . . . .
Do not under-estimate the profit motive - even here in this war - the Ukraine is a country rich in all sorts of wonderful things, including the best soil under the sun - the 'black soil' of the Ukraine has been famous since antiquity for its fertility - but I think there are multiple goals here, including strategic ones - and the possible Greatness of tin-POO the First and Last great emperor of all Rus.
