The media wont bother to write up this Chemeq news. As you can see from the key news below lodged with the ASX late yesterday, is a notice showing that CMQ directors all added to their already substantial holdings No one should lose site of the fact that since floating on the ASX, they have barely sold a share even when they had a high of $8. No one would have blamed them if they had of sold a small parcel to buy a holiday house, or help the grandchildren out, but they didn't. This now leads me to refer back to one of the first "cut the tall poppy down" articles which helped crucify Chemeq's shareprice back on 30 July 07 written by Geoff Elliott of The Australian, who writes Criterion. The key first paragraph read .......
There's something strangely redolent of the dotcom era with Chemeq, a Perth-based animal biotech company that promises to revolutionise feed for the poultry and pig industry".
From what I remember about the dotcom era most of the companies that led the charge to consume investor dollars, never built anything tangible (like a world first manufacturing plant) and more importantly directors sold shares and options (that cost them squat) for fortunes before the bubble burst. When my wife saw this article, even she remembered the unsavoury dotcom era and questioned my logic of "what are we doing in a company like this". Fortunately I resisted the pressure to sell any of our Chemeq shares, because I had done due diligence on this company and was very reassured by knowing the history of director shareholdings. I not only liked the potential of the company, but the very fact that the directors financially supported the company to the hilt was extremely reassuring. What I now wonder about, is how many mum and dad investors have murdered their investment in this company because of articles like Criterion, and the ongoing vendetta W.A news writer Michael Weir seems to have against Dr Melrose.
