    Delia,

To respond to your questions re Bob Brown, (Guru or "inspirational" leader of the BBF), and his memory and awareness of the Federal court rulings on May 2, it appears that no mention of the impending 4 corners program was made before May2 on the BBF facebook pages. Protests against Venture Minerals appeared in Sydney on May 5.
I note that certain of his regular tendencies again became apparent in his summary of the Court ruling.....

As you hinted, he CHOSE to ignore carefully considered legal rulings along with reasonable evidence given at the hearing, which was also highlighted on the 4 corners program, especially to do with the MMG operation. He goes on to say that "not a word was aired about the need to curb consumerism if any of the natural planet is to survive."
A massive subject to tackle Bob, while not clearly outlining the alternatives, which could be workable. The need for Critical metals production and recycling to ease consumerism, and including the dire need for more sustainable tin production, is currently well researched world wide, yet BBF group denies this. Please detail your world vision and fully validate you current protests!!

Regarding Ventures proposed mining and the BBF objections, "Guru" Bob and well funded companions, (they are seeking $100,000 from crowd funding to assist their protests), put forward several questionable assertions.

Q 1/. Venture only wants to make money.
A/ . It is self evident that every sustainable business needs to be profitable, preferably without too much temporary support from sources outside the economic production of their business. Unlike continuous donations and crowd funding, which the BBF seems to need to continue protesting against legitimate and purposeful businesses. VMS intends to provide it's economic proposals to BFS and beyond, without further external funding, apart from any debt or sale of some assets to service expansions.
What is Bob's real problem with "making money"(profits) ...in a worthwhile business which can enhance a greater society?

Q2/ "Venture will destroy ancient temperate rainforest".

A/ How much, considering the environmental obligations to be applied?
Evidence to support this exaggerated claim is severely wanting!

Q3/ "Populations of Tas Devils, Spotted Tail Quolls and Tas Masked Owls will be affected", (assume adversely?)
A/ Where are the studies to prove beyond doubt? esp considering the court requirements imposed on MMG in relation to Owl nesting trees, etc.
Among the top listed threats to Masked Owls is the removal of tall nesting trees, (even though this species in other parts of the continent is also known as the Cave Owl, as where there are no tall trees, eg. Nullarbor and rocky regions,, they choose caves or rock crevices to nest in.), secondary poisonings, ( from dead poisoned rodents), and...collisions from made made structures!

The VMS proposal does not appear to be a great threat...all things properly considered, and without undue bias.
The Tasmanian map of Masked owl sightings shows the vast majority to be outside the Tarkine.... in Nth, Nth and Sth Central and Eastern Tas. Rabbits are part of their diet from semi open country.
    .
Lacking in the BBF main points is the vital need to find quality sources of tin and tungsten, WITHOUT undue destruction of natural environs, with sustainable energy inputs, (Tas Hydro), and with highly regulated legal requirements.
Local jobs are just a tremendous bonus.... without Crowds of ill-directed funds and waste of energy in protests.

MMG might well need to become a cleaner operation, which is what the company WANTS to do, to continue on with it's 85 years of valuable metals production.

VMS has great opportunities too with it's carefully crafted vision, (the iron ore is not it's main focus), ....given the proper recognition and support.
