They all hate him because he doesn't stand for anything beyond himself being in power.
Normally there'd be some pragmatism to try and cater to the different factions and keep everyone happy with whatever compromise is needed, even with a guy like Abbott who was a bit looney, you knew he was at least sincere. This mongrel's motivations are nothing but self interest. He's devious and utterly cynical in everything he does.
