perhaps our opinions diverge at the brine supply side of the equation. if kll and so4 were able to supply the necessary brine to the ponds and produce the required quality and quantity of feed salts to the plant then perhaps the commissioning and operation of the plants would have gone better?

having been in mining for over 20 years i have yet to see a failed operation whose failure was not related to the ore. generally the failure comes from a lack of understanding of the ore, and this is usually driven by a desire to get into production fast, and a lack of understanding by management on how critical it is spend some cash upfront and characterise the ore properly. this is not just a junior issue either, who remembers bhp with the beenup mineral sands project?

if ever there was a race in the wa potash space, it was to get the funding first knowing that if they failed the followers would struggle to get the necessary funding.

perhaps take heart from the nickel laterite space which has many direct comparisons. the first player was too small to be economic. the second player went too hard too fast and blew all the cash. it was the third player that that had the right people, the right resource, a considered plan that was executed successfully. apc is the third player in the wa potash space....... just sayn'
