When you "renew" a 12 month agreement, you are renewing a "12 month agreement". Like mj says, don't read too much into it. If it wasn't renewed the sp would likely collapse. PL3 will determine the next step on the 4DS journey, but this extension actually means HGST are OK if another iteration is required.
