exactly, and also my 2 cents on the renewal of the JDA.
you do not screw a business partner of 9 years on the last leg. a) it looks extremely poorly to potential acquirers and outsiders with in the field and b) if you cancel on bad terms i.e one company wants to continue etc. you get the ex gf dilemma and shade thrown. no jda, nda will stop that.
Continuation is the best for both companies. plus the partnership still shows it as a viable option and has potential. For all we know WD may be only hanging around as they may want only a few of the individual ips so they can further develop an alternate venture. we just dont know. ip industry is growing massively.
