Now we're market closed and the election is tomorrow... this is the topic which could be profound. I'll keep my comments on the election brief and in here on this thread because it's not the main area for broad political discussion.

Theres a sky news interview with the ALPs biggest coal supporter Joel Fitzgibbon earlier today. I took away three points, reading between the lines. 1) We're seriously looking at a hung parliament 2) his former seat of Hunter is at serious risk from One Nation 3) The ALP have genuinely learnt from their mistakes in 2019 and 2010.

I note that Gillard is now hanging out with Albo during pressers. She's the most experienced clown in federal politics when it comes to dealing with hung parliaments... second to none. I don't like her, but, respect where it's due.

My opinion here is that: coal will be all good if UAP/PHON or any of the freedom parties get up and form a control block. Same deal with the teal crowd, although, there could be a small nonsensical carbon tax to appease them. I mentioned earlier in this thread that the teal string puller isn't totally stupid and won't obliterate coal, maybe just a small tax. Worst case is a green block and with Gillard next to albo, she's likely to drive a hard bargain this time around.

For the most part I'm pretty comfortable with whatever unfolds this weekend. Best case scenario for coal is that enough people "vote the majors last" and a controlling block of One Nation emerges. They'll be 110% behind anything coal related.
