It will be nice to see it become a non issue so that we can get on with other important things.
However, I'll wait and see whether Labor actually delivers on it's promise. They are politicians, after all.
They don't need to do much actually. This is the thing that the Scomuppet didn't understand.
Australia was already well on it's way to a renewable grid. Every state and territory has a net zero emissions target and is very active in achieving it. Green hydrogen export projects are in planning in every state. Electric car infrastructure is being rolled out.
In many ways, the work was already being done for the feds, both by them and by the states. There is really just some managing and co-ordinating to be done.
E.g.
all the states together to sort out the cross border bottle neck issues.
Come up with a mechanism that gives business confidence to invest .
Get out of the way.
That's about it.
I can only imagine what the Nationals had on the Scomuppet behind the scenes that stopped him from talking renewables up ?
