    "How did you calculate the live-weight and why is this cohort in particular of interest to you?"

    Sorry, I should use the term body-weight instead of liveweight given we are talking about human beings.

    The trial participants are healthy adult males, so around 80kg for an average guy.

    4,000mg total infusion divided by 80kg gives 50mg/kg. And like I said, the 50mg/kg figure has been mentioned in company presentations as the anticipated effective dose for sepsis. That's why this dose cohort is of particular interest to me. It would still be great to find safety the highest dose cohort, as there may come a time where higher doses are necessary.

    Different bacterial species (and even strains or populations) are inhibited by different concentrations of a given antibiotic. Put simply, some are easily inhibited/killed with a low dose of a certain antibiotic, some require a much higher dose (and/or longer course of treatment), and some are completely resistant at safe dose rates.

    If you're interested, have a read on 'Minimum inhibitory concentration'. It's a common way to express and compare the sensitivity (or otherwise) of a bacteria to a chemical/drug in a lab setting.
