I’m not sure if we need to consider Hong Kong at all. As China has disrupted its sovereignty.
In theory, Hong Kong maintains political and economic autonomy from the rest of China. However, this degree of autonomy has been eroded especially in the last few years. In particular, the working environment for local and foreign journalists has become almost completely dismantled and opaque. So, it’s hard to tell what is really going on. I therefore think it’s safe to say that Hong Kong has been violated and its systems of governing which includes its patent office maybe dysfunctional at present.
It is an international disgrace and the responsibility for this situation remains in the hands of China. If so, how it chooses to get away with impunity without consequence will be a reflection of its sovereignty for many years to come.
On a positive note, this could be to AXE's advantage and a technological loss to China. I suspect that their actions could speed-up and further contribute to strengthening quantum computing and technology innovation in sovereign-trusted countries as a way to curtail their rising influence.
On that note, exciting develops await. And maybe sooner than we think!
