Lepidolite is a sheet mica and spodumene a silicate mineral - pyroxene (as you guys probably know), if the minerals are coarse enough they should be somewhat identifiable, even if they are the same colour, in RC chips - assuming the rig geo collects the bigger chips.
Can use short wave UV light or XRD to get the quantifiable results post drilling also
Where have you seen the purple variety before? Kunzite. Out of curiosity
