What usually happens is that high prices causes miners to increase production to take advantage of high prices if they are expected to last.
Those Covid mothballed mines start up again.
Marginal cost mines become profitable.
Investment in removing bottlenecks becomes justifiable.
Now if only something can be done about the jump in post pandemic shipping costs.
Also do you recall when the USA started producing gas from fracking which displaced their need for as much coal which was then dumped on world markets causing coal prices to fall and mines to be mothballed?
Something similar might happen in a decade when factory made small scale nuclear reactors become a commercial reality.
