Has any aspect of Synlait's operation ever had a confirmed food safety contamination incident? The answer is no.

Synlait shut Talbot down and issued a precautionary recall of its products, because there had been a possible detection, and in NZ at the time there were other cases of listeria around in the community. They did not wait for any confirmation.

However, not only were the community cases found to be unrelated to Talbot, there was never even any listeria confirmed at Talbot.

This all happened only shortly after the company was acquired by Synlait. I could see why Synlait might subsquently be taking action against Talbot, particularly if there was information about its food safety processes that were not accurately disclosed for instance. However as far as I know there is no information on the details of the case.

It is interesting topic for the SM1 forum but really has no bearing on A2's operations whatsoever. Probably the question people should be asking is what happened to Munchkin's FDA application, which Synlait was handling, and which was abandoned a few years ago. Will it get a reboot now?
