    The horizon may be brighter than pundits predict. AAP came out with this headline today: 'Biggest retail spending rise since March,' so who knows what the future in Australian retailing will be.

    And groceries, booze and petrol are hardly Australians' discretionary 'mad money' expenditures. In fact, it's easy to argue they drive less but drink more in hard times, so the looming turnaround of Coles' liquor business recently written about (featuring a wholesale strategy) could be a boomer!
