Analysts at Goldman Sachs expect Whitehaven to pay total dividends of 58 cents per share in FY 2022 on a dividend yield of 11.1 per cent based on a $5.20 share price
Goldman expects Whitehaven to offer a free cashflow yield of 46 per cent as the miner delivers an additional $400 million share buyback announced in February 2021.
“They’ve basically repaid all their debt, they’re currently buying back shares because they don’t have any franking credits,” said Mr Mills. “But they’re generating them now because they’re making profits. They should have used up all their tax losses, so they should start paying out pretty decent franked dividends.”
