LAU extensively uses Melbourne to Perth intermodal trains.
This drone-shot video is of the twice weekly premium 'Toll train' operated by Pacific National. For instance one departs Melbourne at Friday lunchtime with containers normally arriving in Perth by 'sparrows' on Monday morning ready for delivery to warehouses. Far faster than the declining number of foreign-crewed ships plying coastal shipping with its shocking reputation for running days or sometimes weeks late, and similar to road although way cheaper given rail's 'steel wheel on steel rails' 8x efficiency.
Among the eight LAU containers on the train, at 0:27 one can see the refrigerated ('reefer') controls on the front. I gather many or all of these LAU containers are secondhand, reducing the purchase cost. I don't know if LAU reconditioned them prior to placing in service:
