Ukraine had a deliberate strategy around luring Russian infantry (Kadyrovites and scratch separatist militia) deep into Severodonetsk, then hitting them hard with a ferocious counterattack. The Russian infantry shortage is now starting to bite.
Long range artillery will turn the tide, I agree.
