@thenetwork - this happened to me 1 week ago - but I managed to get rid of the latest update - can one keep doing that

I thought Windows 7 was pretty good - then it was 10, where many functions are over-designed in my view - why do they keep updating - and treating users like idiots? - and getting more and more intrusive 'do you like this, do you like that, what about your screen picture, guess where - we arent telling until you respond! grrrrrrr
Question: can one keep going without doing the major update to Windows 11 (which happened to me about 10 days ago and all my documents, layouts etc. had vanished)? but I am back to normal, but for how long!
