China harasses an RAAF P8 in international airspace.

This is serious. Before posting I did a search to confirm details but a broad inquiry yielded NOTHING. Only a targeted search gave a response.

For decades fighters have done manoeuvres around other nations' aircraft* but this takes it to a new level. After passing the P8 the CCP fighter passed across the nose of the P8 releasing flares. Another report say he released chaff. Either way it is dangerous and WAY outside accepted practice with opposing warplanes.

Jet engines are not capable of ingesting flares or kilos of tinsel. Maybe they are like geese, Ask Sully.

* A Chinese fighter miscalculated and actually collided with an AC they were harassing once. The victim made a safe emergency landing.
