Hi @big e - if you think that dogs aren't a full-time job to look after, like having a perpetually needy child - you have never owned a dog!
It's a mystery to me, why people love an animal, which seems to spend a lot of its walky-time smelling other animals pee and poo . . .
and doing the same, and you are there, dressed elegantly (or not) at the other end of it, 'on the leash - too' smiling down benignly as they do their business, again and again . . . . and the barking! we have two beagles in the street which tend to go into barking crazes and I am always glad I do not live next-door. Really, it's crazy.

Yet, I also watch 'the Dog House' and owned a dog or two and bawled my eyes out when I had to have the last one put down - but over 7 years (I inherited it from one of my girls) it had cost my 2 overseas air fares in vet fees. Humans are strange

Cats just make you feel loved, even if they do it for selfish reasons, as do dogs - we fulfill their needs and - strangely we have a need to be needed, or feel like we are in charge, or like to look dangerous (you can't look dangerous with a pussycat , that's the only drawback) -
a cat is simply there - greets you - makes you feel great when you pat them and they purr and purr, what a wonderful sound!- mine greets me every time she comes into a room i am in . . . . and cats have simpler needs and fewer vet fees, generally. .... and I don't need to go for endless walkies, pick up their poo, when out (mine, is an outdoors cat, got her too late to keep her indoors).

So there - I am sure @Margaret63 agrees with me, even though I don't like Johnny Depp as much as you do, Margaret?! - I think he is a poser and no-one knows the real Johnny Depp - maybe his children do, but they are no longer around, are they?

In the end our children are our truest character judges! (I hope I get a good grade )
