You've got to remember that funds management and the world of executives are very nepotist circles. It doesn't matter how you perform, as long as you get along with the right guy at gold you're guarantees cushy gigs for the rest of your life.
I mean, look at losers like Brian Hartzer (ex Westpac) and Tom Albanese (Rio). They're doing just fine.
