Looking only at NPAT for this and in fact any company is not accurately assessing the companies performance in my opinion. I always start with the cash flow statement and work my way back to the P&L. Takes the accounting tricks out of the equation and reveals the most important factor in my mind = free cash flow. Unfortunately everyone that looks at PE’s affects short term share price performance but long term prospects will be driven more by cash flow and ability to reinvest that for growth.
