Flows into hedge funds picked up to $18.7 billion in November, following a revised $8.2 billion inflow in October. Thanks to an unprecedented nine-month winning streak, hedge fund assets have risen 20.8% to $1.4 trillion since March 2009. Hedge funds have basically recouped all their losses since July 2008, and are just 4.0% off from their all time high in May 2008. Funds of hedge funds posted a $4.9 billion inflow (0.8% of assets) in November, their first significant inflow in 19 months. Last, CTAs took in $4.3 billion (2.2% of assets) in November, their sixth straight inflow.
